NOOO! I forgot to post yesterday. Oh well, Tuesday is almost the same as Monday, so I say we carry on and pretend that my memory works well and that I encoded the Monday schedule thing correctly.
So today I've decided to discuss fictional characters that are awesome. There are many of them, so for today I'll narrow it down to three. Perhaps I'll pick three more to write about some time in the near future. (I am almost positive that I will because I think all of my favorites deserve to be blogged about at some point).
1. Buffy Summers from the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer created by Joss Whedon. She is super awesome. She has super strength, fights vampires and other demons, and saves the world on more than one occasion, all while attending high school, (at least up until the end of season 3). I first watched Buffy in the summer of 2008, halfway through my high school life, (I was going to be a sophomore), and finished the series some time in early 2009. I cried my eyes out. Buffy is someone I find very inspiring. She represents the strength everyone has inside them, whether they realize it is there or not, (har har yes I love extra cheese on top of cheesey cheese statements). She is flawed, yet she strives past the things that try to stop her. She makes mistakes and somehow manages to be a hero every single day. Plus I love how Joss Whedon decided to make the ditzy blonde girl into the super hero for once.
2. Gemma Doyle from the book series by Libba Bray, the Gemma Doyle Trilogy: A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels, and The Sweet Far Thing. The books take place in the Victorian Era in England at a boarding school called Spence. I really love Gemma's sense of humor, and how she keeps going even when she has no idea what it is that she is supposed to be doing. She posesses a great magic handed down to her from her mother, and she must find a way to keep it safe in the magical world known as the realms. I read all three of the books within just a couple of months. I started in May and finished in June. I also cried at the end of this series. I was sad to have to let these characters go. I'm hoping they will make movies out of these books, so that way I don't really have to for a little while, (sort of like Harry Potter; the books are over but the movies are not). Gemma is hilarious and awesome, so, read those books!
3. Hermione Granger of the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. Obviously, I have to write about Hermione. I've at least known of her character since 2001. That's nearly ten years. Right before watching Sorcerer's Stone for the first time at my best friend Emily's house, I looked at the cover which contained the video cassette (oh goodness...), and saw a girl with large, very strange, very bushy hair. I decided I did not like her right there and then.
But then she walked on to the train and introduced herself as Hermione Granger. I'm totally tricking you with the "but" at the beginning of that sentence. I still didn't like her. She was so bossy. "Ooooh, you'd better change into your robes. I know everything. Blaahh blah blahhh."
But then she met the sorting hat. I found her sort of amusing. But, like Harry and Ron, I didn't truly come around until the troll escaped that dungeon. After that, I could just relate to her so much. I loved school when I was 8, and 9, and 10, and 11. During 7th grade, as a 12 year old, I hated it, but mostly because I didn't really like my home life either. UNRELATED SENTENCE. xD
So, back to what I was saying. 8th Grade, 13 years old. I was head over heels for HP. I'd seen the first 4 movies, Goblet of Fire being my first in theaters, and I finally decided it was time to read the books. I read all 6 in a month or two. (Yes, I was quite crazy. Still am, a bit). The books really showed me Hermione's character, moreso than the movies had. So, I liked her since the first movie. I admired her so much after, meh, the 3rd movie, probably.
She's super smart, loyal, and stands up for her beliefs. For years now, I've aspired to be like her. Any time school is starting to drag, I just remind myself that Hermione gets all her work done, (plus I love the feeling of simply having done your homework and being prepared. I should do my work more often!). She really inspired me during Deathly Hallows. The things she did just for her friends, (well I guess the world, too), ugh, I can't even. I don't know what else to say. I realize I am a but biased seeing as this section has so much more in it compared to the Buffy and Gemma sections. BUT WHATEVER. I totally have to right to write about a character I've loved for 9 years. So, yeah.
Wow. I guess that's all I have to say.
I'll post on Monday. I can't let this Tuesday thing become a habit.
Now, I'm off to watch as many Christmas movies as I can before the season is over! Vacation starts in 2 days!
Unrelated things happening in my life:
-Had a band concert, having another in school on Thursday. We were really awesome. I've never been that proud of a performance before. Seriously!
-Saw Deathly Hallows a second time on Saturday. Better than the first time. Can't wait for that DVD.
-Speaking of DVDs, I really want to own Easy A. Best teen movie ever.
-I guess that's all now. Back on Monday.
Adios x
