Gone with the Wiiiiiiiind

Hi again, bloggy blog.
Over the weekend I watched Gone with the Wind for the very first time with Susie. She and I made a deal like 2 years ago: I would watch Gone with the Wind if she would watch the first two X-men movies, (because the third one isn't that great, and she'd already seen it for some reason).

We watched one X-men movie and then I swore I'd watch GwtW soon. Apparently soon meant 2 years later because it took a while. Anyway, I absolutely loved it. I was surprised by how not-boring it was and by how rad Scarlet is.
The last twenty minutes were tragic; I just kept staring at Susie with my mouth hanging open in shock every two seconds. I'd like to think that someday she gets Rhett back. The music was also SO beautiful. I just hated that one girl who claimed she knew how to deliver a baby and then DIDN'T.

Also I've been thinking more about what to do for my next 3D Design project and I actually have a decent idea! Hooray for productivity (she said as she avoided studying for her science exam).
Okay, I'm going to watch Pretty Little Liars until my brain rots/my next class starts. I just wanted to make a little post since I can't get it out of my mind. Happy Monday!

Trying New Things

Well, hello there!

It's been about 2 weeks since I last posted, and since then not very much has happened. I worked, I studied, I made some art, the usual.

The sibs and I went to see The Cabin in the Woods last weekend. Of course I was expecting something great, since Joss Whedon was a part of it, but I was blown away by how much I loved it. I was terrified and watched a lot of it through my hands, but I was also laughing uncontrollably. We all agreed that our favorite line was, "He has a husband bulge".

Anyway, this week we got a new project assigned in my 3D Design class. It's a self portrait through materials that represent you. It got me thinking about what represents me. Sure, I'm an introvert who loves reading and drawing and watching a lot of tv but there is more to me. I think I'd like to use photos in my project; pictures of my family and friends and the things I like. But, I was also thinking about creating a series of photos of me basically trying new things.

I don't always consider myself to be the bravest person ever. I can't sleep with a spider in the room, I'm terrified of heights, and I hate needles. But I can be brave when the situation calls for it.
Let's rewind for a moment to Christmas break 2008. I went with my family and my friend Jessie to my uncle's farm in Virginia. Down a little dirt road there's an old cemetery in the woods. All the graves are empty and the stones are barely legible; it's awesome during the day but a little more than creepy at night.
So, one night me, Jessie, the sibs, and my dad and uncle decided to take a trip to the cemetery because creepy things can be fun. I brought my camera just in case we found anything cool.
As soon as we entered the woods, everything went quiet. The flashlights died, the phones died, and my camera died. It was just like a horror movie. (I'm still convinced it was ghosts that caused this).

About 2 minutes later we all started hearing screams. All I could think of was "drunken teen hunters with knives who are going to kill us". My uncle made this worse when he said in a low voice, "Hey, who's out there?", only to get louder (and closer) screams in response.
At that point I wanted to get out of there. My dad and uncle are "tough guys" who aren't afraid of anything, but I personally did not want to be murdered.

I decided to fake cry so my dad would take me seriously; in a cracked voice I whispered, "Dad? I think...we should leave".
Finally the screams were right near us and we all gave up on standing up to them, (I had previously shouted "yeah thanks for scaring us. Happy new year"). We all started to run back to the road, screaming.

There are only flashes of the next minute or so in my mind. The first is the moment right before we started running. Jessie hugged my dad and even though I was afraid, I thought (and still think) it was extremely funny.

The next part I remember is my dad falling into a bush while we were running. He simply looked up and started laughing, but in my fear-crazed mind I only thought about needing him there. There was no way I was running out onto a creepy road without my dad.
So, I lunged for him and pulled him up with my right arm. I guess it was an adrenaline rush because it was really easy to do.

By the time we got back onto the road, my uncle was cracking up, explaining that it was just the neighbors and that they had planned this horrible night.

It was an interesting evening. Anyway, my point is that I can be brave when I need to be. I'm not about to leave anyone behind in a crisis. And this led me to wondering, am I brave enough to try a bunch of new things?

As of today I decided I must be. So, I'm making it my goal to do something new, even if it's just cooking dinner. I'm sick of sitting back worrying about what might happen, because, even though it's so cliche, you never really know until you try it.

This post kind of went in a different direction than I was planning, but I guess that's okay. I need to go to sleep now; I have a 3 hour class at 9am tomorrow. Woooo!

Actually Windsday!

Last week I was under the impression that it was Wednesday. A few fun things have happened, and I am avoiding homework/getting up and making dinner so I thought I would share.

On Friday night I went with my sister Sherri to New Haven to see the band Wild Flag in concert. The only member I knew was Carrie Brownstein from Portlandia. Anyway, the opening bands were good, and Wild Flag was great. They are total rock stars and they played the most wonderful guitar solos. It made me want, for at least 10 minutes, to be in a band. I was slightly deaf after the show, but I basically had a great time. The only problem was since we were very close to the front, people were squishing me and it was really crowded and hot. But I survived and Sherri is still talking about how great it was.

Saturday started with me being woken up early in the morning (like 8am) by Susie, who had gone to bed at like 9 the night before. I didn't get home until 1:30, so I was super tired. After we'd woken up and gotten coffee from Dunkin Donuts, we went to see The Hunger Games. Susie had just finished the book and I was itching to see it again anyway, so it was pretty exciting. I actually cried at the Prometheus trailer again. And I cried even more during the movie when Rue died. I also had a lovely moment where some Advil fell from my purse and loudly bounced away during a really quiet scene.

After the movie Susie and I were starving so I called People's Choice and ordered a pizza. Ordering over the phone is my least favorite thing, and I was super awkward about it. Luckily the delicious pizza was worth it.

Over the course of the weekend, I actually watched the movie Take Me Home Tonight twice. Once by myself, and a second time with Susie, Sarah, and my mom. They didn't love it as much as me. I thought it was hilarious.

While at my mom's, I worked on trying to convince Sarah to read I am Number Four, because it's amazing and I want more people to like it. So far I'm not too successful.

We also had a nice dinner and the weather has been getting warmer again. There are actually leaves on the trees outside right now. WAHHH!

Anyway, I'm starving so I'm going to end here. One of these days I'll actually write about something interesting.

Winnnndsday! (Because as I typed that title I thought it was Wednesday)

Hello, hello. At the moment I should be writing a 5 page essay that's due tomorrow but blogging is always much more fun. This probably won't be a very long post since I have class in half an hour, but I'll do my best.

Last Thursday I went with Sherri, Sarah Jo, and Eliot to see The Hunger Games at midnight. I'd never seen more people in Loews other than the Deathly Hallows Part 2 midnight premiere. People were dressed up or wearing THG t-shirts and every other word out of someone's mouth was Peeta. It was lovely suddenly realizing how big The Hunger Games really is.

Unfortunately we were sitting pretty close to the front, but it wasn't so close that my neck hurt. The trailers they showed were pretty great. I laughed at the Breaking Dawn trailer, even though I'm totally going to see it. Then I got really excited about Snow White and the Huntsman, and after that I actually cried at the Prometheus trailer. I've only seen Alien once, but that movie looks foiiine.

The Hunger Games movie was amazing of course. I wrote a "review" containing all my feelings here. It was better than I expected. There were just a few things I wish were in it, but movies will never be exactly the same as books.

The past week since then has been filled with me listening to The Hunger Games soundtrack multiple times, and tumbling millions of pictures/videos of Jennifer Lawrence just like everyone else on the internet. It's pretty wonderful.

Besides that, school, and work, I've watched a few new movies and I read a book. The movies included Elsewhere (meh), Restraint (Meehehhhh...I liked it whaaat), The Burning Plain (not bad), The Poker House (CRYING ALWAYS), and 2:37, which left me an emotional wreck. I'm planning on watching it again to get the full effect now that I know what's going on. I'd recommend it to...um...everyone. Except kids. Anyway, I basically watched a lot of movies starring J-Law and Teresa Palmer.

I also read Divergent by Veronica Roth. I saw it at WalMart for like $9, so I grabbed it. It kind of freaked me out because I had no idea which faction I'd choose if I had to. Dauntless sounds fun but I think I'd be one of those people who would end up dying within the first 10 minutes. I cried at the end and then found out it's becoming a movie, and the second book comes out soon! So, yay to that.

OH and Skins ended on Monday. I was a sobbing mess. But I really loved it. Man I hate when good shows end. ;__;

Not much else has happened; I just thought I'd update while I had some time.
Later alligatorssss.

Springtime!

Well, spring is finally upon us...sort of. It's still technically winter, but the temperature here in New England begs to differ. According to weather.com, it is currently 70 degrees outside. Let me repeat that, 70 degrees outside. It is absolutely beautiful. It's the kind of weather that makes me open the windows and blast the same 3 songs over and over, (which today include Monster by Kanye, Numb by Marina and the Diamonds, and Lost & Found by Katie Herzig).

I didn't have to walk home, thanks to my dad. We never really resolved the issue; I look at it is me forgiving him and letting it go. I was never one for staying angry at someone for too long. Later I have drawing class, which has been increasingly difficult but still totally awesome. After that I am hanging out with Susie for a while. The plan is to get Rita's (which I think is only in New England, but I could be wrong) for Italian Ice and then we're going to watch a few episodes from season 6 of Skins. The spring weather has brought back my love for that show. I spent a lot of my weekend watching it. Sarah Jo and I also went to the park yesterday and played hide and seek like children. I thought I would die from laughing so hard.

This weekend was just what I needed. I got some space away from this town and school and work, and now I'm happy to be back. I even learned how to ride a city bus on Friday. I'm thinking it's all going to work out.

Anyway, I just took a 20 minute break from writing this to make a playlist on Spotify. Now that my mind is distracted, I think I'll end on this happy note.
Bye!

Busy Bee

Wow I can't believe I'm finally writing a new post! It's only been a couple of weeks but I feel like so much has happened since then.

I've been going to work like always, and it's going well on the days where there is actually something for me to do. I'm always really busy school-wise, especially with homework and studying, (yeah, I actually do those things now). I had my first exam in Earth Science 2 weeks ago, and I studied for almost 3 hours, which is something that has never happened before. The following Tuesday after the exam the teacher gave them back and I discovered how much working hard pays off. I got a 95 on that test. OOOHHHH YEAAH.

During that time, Dad & Louise went to Florida so I stayed with the sibs for a week and a half. I watched a lot of Gossip Girl when I wasn't at school or sleeping, and somehow Susie got sucked in. We finished season 2 together, and we love Chuck and Blair. Part of me is amazed that somehow I ended up legitimately loving that show, but the other part is very aware of my love for teen tv shows.

When I wasn't watching tv, I was reading. This month ended with me finishing the final Percy Jackson book, and then reading the Lorien Legacies. I Am Number Four was pretty good, and by that I mean I read it in a few days and cried at the end. I even bought the movie a few days ago, along with the second book in the series. Young Adult fiction: my anti drug.

I guess not much else has really happened since I last posted. I'm very excited about The Hunger Games coming out in a few weeks, and somehow I already have plans to see it twice.
Oh also I got my own Netflix account. My queue is a place filled with embarrassment; it includes Abduction starring Taylor Lautner. Yeah...

Okay, I'm going to mindlessly tumbl and think about skipping my 3D Design class today since I have no ideas and no supplies. We'll see.

Oh and I'm going to start doing this now:

This is bad I should be sleeping

My schedule is slowly killing me. Today I had 3D Design and Earth Science. 3D Design is super boring but I'm making a mobile with hanging wire elephants. It's actually not so bad.

Unfortunately I've been getting in silly fights with Dad and Louise since my dad arrived home from Virginia on Monday (yesterday...!). Plus the "g" key isn't working today so most of my words have been like workin' and freakin' and walkin'.

In other news, I went to The Cheesecake Factory for the first time on Saturday in some nice public square in West Hartford (I think). I also started season 2 of Gossip Girl while all 3 of my sisters judged me for it.

Then we all went to my mom's to watch the Superbowl. Unfortunately I actually cared and wanted the Patriots to win since my step-dad loves them. It was fun though; we ate a lot of horrible food and I took two naps. TWO.

Okay it's almost 11:30 and I do have work in the morning. Ugh, I hate mornings and waking up and having to do things that involve leaving my room.

Until next time,
Adios :P
